The weight of this wine comes across on the nose, with dense and rich fruit, and the first impressions on the palate are "knit," and "beefy cabernet backbone." There is a cloying chew to the wine as well as a reluctant departure. The chew migrates seamlessly into pleasing tannins that stick around as a reminder of the visit. Despite the intimidating introduction, it is but the Wizards curtain, for it remains a medium weight and finish wine. Nonetheless, the curtain manages to ably hide the 15.8% alcohol, a balanced effort. Drinking well now and should sustain for a couple more years easily. A blend of 51% Syrah, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Merlot.

A restrained, Bordeaux-like nose reflecting old world scents with opulent, deep rich color. A muscular wine that provides a wall of tannins on the entry with pure fruit pushing through on the trail end. Ripe raspberries, cherry and red currant are well represented on a spicy avenue heading towards the finish line. A dark chocolate, well oaked crescendo at the end. A wine that is built for aging, and unlike the 06 Mirror, needs time to integrate in the bottle. Best in 2011 and beyond. Jada tasting room - Paso Robles Harvest Festival.
