  • Ok, this bottle a bit better…don’t expect miracles

  • Cork came out in one piece. Nose was funky with a little wet newspaper note (not good). Brown in color. No fruit left, and unfortunately no characteristics replaced. RIP

  • PnP, served non-blind. One of the centerpieces for the double-nickle (55th birthday) celebration. Astonishing fill level, remarkably still quite dark - someone really cared for this bottle. Gently faded fruits give way to a soft tapestry of tertiary development dominated by leather and tobacco leaf. I couldn't get the picture out of my head that I was standing in an 18th century nobleman's study, with lots of dusty, leather-bound books, fine rugs, a freshly swept fireplace and the essence of a drum of tobacco sitting in the room. Such a pleasure to look back into history like this. Interestingly, the aromas seemed to fade pretty quickly after just 10 minutes in the glass, but after another ten minutes without swirling, the aromas came back to life, with the wine even adding some welcome weight (though it never went beyond medium-bodied). Drink now, not getting any better.

  • Maybe a severe judgement, but the wine showed tired, too dry, too acidic, has never been charming.
