  • Bought at a local distributor's yard sale. I have a strong feeling this 18 year old beauty wasn't properly stored. Found a huge amount of sediment, even painted on the inside of the bottle.
Certainly not very good at first; but after a couple of hours of decanting, it showed its awesome potential. Even with this conditions, black forest fruits, black cherry, sweet tobacco, cinnamon and vanilla were quite present.
I can only imagine how good it must have been at its prime, and properly stored.

  • Decanted for one hour. On the nose reticent funky aromas reminding of cooked vegetables and hints of vanilla. Medium bodied, very smooth on the palate, supple and firm tannins, delivering subtle dark fruit with notes of liquorice, minerals and hints of the funk I found in the bouquet. Gentle acidity.Slightly dusty finish. Great balance. Really starting to come around already. This is very delicious stuff. Can certainly hold for many years but drinking great now.

  • The 2005 offers rich aromas of roasted plums, bramble berry and mission figs along with spices, loam, licorice and mint chocolate providing additional layers of complexity. On the palate this is ultra-smooth and polished, finishing up long and soft. Paul Hobbs, one of California's legendary winemakers has been consulting with Pascual Toso's chief winemaker, Rolando Luppino, on the development of premium and super-premium wines from Mendoza. They are certainly getting the job done with this single vineyard blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. (Best 2012-2019)

  • Deep purple core with some ruby around the edge. The nose shows massive oaky aromatics which blow off and yield to black and purple fruit with some VA. Full bodied, massive tannic wine. Modern and Parkerized, but with a big hole in the middle. This was open for about two hours before, as with many over the top cocktail wines, it simply falls apart.

  • Deserves decanting to fully bring it out of its shell. Brambles and black fruits with prominent but not overdone oak. Really lovely
