  • Wow! Stain your gastrointestinal track with this serious Aussie Shiraz - a dark, chewy, meaty bomb. No food required here - this wine has everything needed to sustain life itself. Cherry red color infused with brick and mahogany. Nose of fermented kirsch and rose jump out of the glass and permeate the pores. Fruit up front, followed by an explosion of layered tannins and acid and more fruit on the midpalate (hints of caramel, cherry, cassis, and spice box), climax occurs in about 5 seconds followed by a long evolving finish. Big wine lovers jump on this one - you won't be disappointed.

  • Still very youthful and dark. Even with an alcohol level of 15.2%, the nose provides an almost cool climate profile – dark fruits, mahogany, dried grasses, herbs and a touch of black olive. Smooth and quite refined on the palate revealing blackberry fruit with a sweet cherry edge, chocolate caramels and hint of fig. There is still a touch of drying tannin on the forceful finish. Previously I was concerned that the tannin would outlast the fruit, but based on this showing I think it will hit a balanced peak in 1-2 years. An excellent QPR and, in my opinion, the best Syrah in Rosenblum’s lineup.

  • A nicely integrated, bright nose of raspberry, tar, anise and menthol. Medium bodied, with raspberry, darker fruit and minerals. The finish shows heavy tannins and acid. Needs 3-5 more years. I hope that there is the fruit intensity to carry it.

  • Tasted in tasting bar at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bright disc with virually opaque purple robe and violet rim. Clean nose with intense blackberry, black cherry, smoke, oak and roasted herbs. The palate is slightly sweet secondary to alcohol and glycerin (rather than residual sugar). Excellent acid/alcohol/tannin balance, with a full-bodied, chewy texture and flavors similar to nose. The finish is long, chewy and very pleasant. This is an outstanding example of what can be achieved with California Syrah.
