Syrah, Mouvedre, Grenache. Color: Dark black-ish ruby. Nose: Lots of overwhelming alcohol on the nose, even after several minutes in the glass, berry, plum, spring herbs. Palate: Full bodied but not jammy. Ripe fruit of blackberries and some meaty plum, graphite, brambles, young savory spices. Firm tannins. Long finish. 14.5% alcohol wasn't as pesent after 30 minutes. (D 7.5, F 7)

Yum. 50% Syrah, 33% Mourvedre, 17% Grenache. Aromas of smoke and pencils, earth and cherry cola. Fruit up front with citrusy acid, slipping into a slightly tannic peppery finish. The middle might get smoother with time; right now that's the only part of this wine that seems a little disjointed. An excellent QPR. A-.
