(Dettori TUDERI ( FINAL)) UPDATE: Art/Holiday Hours Due to the snow today, holiday pick-ups were suspended but will resume tomorrow (Wednesday) from 11am-4pm. Tomorrow is your last day to pick-up until Tuesday Nov 30th. If you have a new pick up request for tomorrow, please email Sarah tonight as we have a large number of pick-up appointments already scheduled for most of the day tomorrow: sarah@garagistewine.com Please note – Garagiste is closed Thanksgiving Day and through the weekend to allow our staff much needed time with their loved ones. We will re-open Tuesday Nov 29th for normal hours. We will continue to be available via email throughout the holiday period but there may be a delay in response due to the holiday schedule. We may have an email offer or three during this period so stay tuned... In addition, we’ve had a large number of phone calls regarding this morning’s Geraldine Allard art offer – many of you failed to receive the offer as it was sent from Melisa’s email and was subsequently caught in work spam filters. The entire offer, artwork and order instructions are here: http://www.garagistewine.com/geraldines-paris Thank you, have a good evening - Garagiste ****************************** Tuderi #2 Dear Friends, Last week’s Dettori offer received a spirited response with questions and curiosities to match. Most of the inquiries asked for a more affordable example (than ) but that is not easy to come by. One thing is for sure, the intrigue regarding the producer is palpable so here you go... We offered this wine over the summer but many of you either missed it (you were out golfing, snorkeling, storm-chasing, etc) or you are new to the Email List. If you are looking for a less costly way to introduce your palate to the wonder of Alessandro Dettori (an act I highly recommend), tonight’s offer is the ticket. (For background, etc, the original offer is below – my effusive reaction aside, the wine is worth the hyperbole.) VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and VERY RARE! One final parcel directly from the cellars at Dettori (set to arrive in Feb or so – it will ship in the spring): 2006 Dettori Tuderi Romangia Rosso (Sardegna) - (compare at $40-45+ in the US) Enjoy the holiday weekend! - Jon Rimmerman **************************************** (Here’s the original offer from the summer) Tuderi Dear Friends, This wine is insane – plain and simple. Whenever a winemaker adds the phrase “we have not added winemaking to the wine” you know you better start paying attention. After one sniff of this remarkable beverage, I'm definitely paying attention. This is the most individual wine I’ve tasted in Europe this summer with an equal amount of wine-geek magnetism as the current crop from my good friend Frank Cornelissen (who is a big fan of Dettori – known in the south as the Cornelissen of Sardinia). With an unbridled, fabulous and wild sense of itself, the 2006 Tuderi teems with unique character – it is not necessarily a “wine” in the obvious sense of the word (there’s hardly any color) but it is far more complex and complicated than 99% of what is labeled around the world as wine. The mulled spice, tobacco and orange rind aromatics of this wine are so compelling, you want to push aside your dinner companion and politely let them know the wine is far more interesting than the political/current affairs drivel you’ve been batting back and forth. There are very rare occasions when the wine outshines the moment itself and this is one of those vinous experiences that supersedes all but your own individual ability to stand back and enjoy the ride. From Alessandro Dettori on the 2006 Tuderi: “The grapes have been produced by Dettori in the vineyards and cellars - we have not have used synthetic chemicals in addition to sulfur. We have not added yeast, enzymes and other acids – we have not added winemaking to the wine. NOT filtered, NOT clarified, NO Barrique (barrels) - please tell everyone to give the Tuderi time to rest after shipping – it is alive. Leave in to oxygenate in the glass, for two days maybe. Any remaining CO2 is natural, every bottle can be different. ingredients: Grapes. Sorry, but we don’t follow the market, we produce wines that we like, wines from our culture. They are what they are and maybe not what you wish them to be, but maybe what you will want them to be in the end” That could be the defining paragraph of the season. If that doesn’t whet your appetite for intrigue, maybe this will... VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for fans of Frank Cornelissen, the natural wine movement in Chateauneuf-du-Pape and the vinous magical mystery tour that makes this hobby so enlightening. This wine is meant to be experienced over 48-72 hours, every step of the way (from first cork pull through to the 2nd/3rd night) THIS WINE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SOURCE - ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the winery cellar in Sardinia: 2006 Dettori Tuderi Romangia Rosso (Sardegna) – SOLD OUT - Jon Rimmerman Italy5878 Click here to view the status of your orders in O.A.R.S.
