  • Riesling is such a rare treat in this house that whenever I get to taste one of these high-class beauties, I am just smitten by how spectacular they are. Maybe if I drank more than a few per year I wouldn't appreciate these quite as much and give such praise, but seriously, this is some killer squeeze.

  • Dinner at Chengdu Impression (Chicago, IL): Very sweet and lower acid than is typical for this wine, and it's quite likely this is a product of the vintage. It's still very minerally and primary, and frankly just drinks like a young Prüm. Decent now, but high potential, and given that this is a little trickier to replace, I'd be more inclined to let this age a decade or two more to let it develop some more interesting characteristics. Because you might as well just drink a bottle of the current vintage instead right now.

  • I enjoyed every single moment of this beauty. Lush golden hue, practically glowing. Super seductive aromas of honey, melon, vanilla, cream. Immense weight and density. Sweet but not remotely cloying or sickly - there is such poise here, such an impressive roundedness and completeness. Hugely satisfying. Irresistible. Who knows how many decades of future joy we're looking at.

  • From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas are quite fresh and lightweight...a little sulphur, peach, apricot, fresh apple, the sulphur lends a little struck match and bacon fat underpin the fruits. In the mouth it's softly juicy, off-dry but very fresh (I would not have called this Auslese blind) with tangy apple backed by stone fruit, a little chalky texture, long, wonderfully balanced, lovely. Splendid.

  • Light to medium bodied. A silk mantle of apples, white peaches and pears, some honeysuckle in there too, underpinnings of limestone in the finish. Sweet but harmonious and well balanced. Outstanding! 93/94
