Wines with 25+ Years Non-Blind (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Pale amber core with greenish yellow rim; lots more obvious soy and celery seed on the nose in comparison to the '58 Borgogno, tea, a more opulent wine, fat, soft acids, interesting but this has lost its fruit and tension.

This is a nice old Barolo... one that reminds you there is no way to get to this kind of flavor profile without simply waiting, and there's something special about that. The color has some brown hue, but also plenty of red notes. The aromas are pretty, showing some kind of leaves and dusty dirty raspberries; quite pleasing, and perhaps the best part of the wine. Very soft and mellow on the palate, soft leaves, and some Worcestershire. Certainly mature tasting. The finish shows some bruised apples. Some flavors are soft old plums and an accidently chewed clove. The wine has acid for sure, but it's not the ripping kind you can sometimes get in these old Barolos. In fact, the acid is really the only structural element left an there isn't really tannins remaining. Everything about this wine is in place and it's nice, but it is lacking some of the characteristics of old Barolo to really put this over the top, such as epic fruit vibrancy (which I've had in many an old Barolo, but it's not present here). A bit hard to score as its a unique, particular experience, and very enjoyable for that... it's very intellectual, but I wish for more hardcore deliciousness than I'm having.

Obviously mature, but in very good shape, a dark tea color with aromas of tar, roses, and a maybe jut a touch of VA. Nice flavor profile and still plenty of life offering lots of interesting nuance. Likely stays in this window for years to come, but not going to improve.

This was a fantastic bott of almost ethereal, perfectly mature Barolo, worth every penny. Impulse open. Only 2 hours slow ox. Dark mature red with a tinge of terracotta at the rim. Nose matches the palate. Very complex: smoke, tar, rose, truffle, cola, spice, confection, citrus, soy, hoisin, sweet dark cherries, violets, charcuterie, forest floor, it’s all there folks! Perfectly balanced and harmonious, youthful, high acidity, tannin prominent on the finish but quite fine.
