(Concha Y Toro 90+ Tasting at Oineas) Composition for this one is Carmenere 90%, CS 6,5%, CF 3,5%. It has spent 18 months in 100% new oak. This label it only made in great years, so it was a rare chance to try this. It was double decanted. Deep red to black color. Deep and dense nose, complex, plums, black berry, liquorice, pencil. Very tasty palate, fruity, sweet tannins like velvet, spicy and long aftertaste. It will be far better in 1-2 years and then maybe for another 10. Came back to it after 2 hours and it had gained beautiful notes of chocolate. Star of the tasting
Beautiful, brilliant cherry red color, with violet tint that adds so much to the enjoyment and experience. Soft cherry cotton candy aromas, with secondary cranberry aromas, and very subtle red pepper. All in perfect composition and intensity. Full bodied, very elegant and long, very harmonious, showing elderflower, eucalyptus, all encompassed within dense dark cherry flavors, which makes for a syrupy, fine liquor sensation. Ends very explosive and prolonged, showing wild berries and raspberry flavors, and certain spiciness. Soft, beautiful tannins. Very elegant and tall, showing the terroir of Peumo, the character of Carmenere, and the expertise of the winemaker. Kudos!
