Wondered how a screw top wine would hold up at 13 years, and the answer was just fine in this case. Big, bold wine as expected, but not overwhelmingly so and wears its alcohol level (15.3%) well.

Man this was just sooo big and vanilla-y and sweet. Not wearing its alcohol well at all. Bourbon. No thanks. I don’t always hate big wines, but on this night, this tasted like dessert.

It's a big wine; lovely big ripe fruit. Dusty, tobacco, red currant. It's a really nice hedonistic wine. Perfect for a cold night with steak au poivre. I think this is maturing nicely.

I opened another bottle five years after my last tasting. Quite a bit of sediment. Decanted 2 hours before this note.
Smoky leather and cedar notes on the nose, with some alcohol (which is expected given the 45% Mourvedre). Nice perfume. Still pretty tannic and alcoholic on the palate, although it smooths out a bit on the finish. Big, slow legs on the glass.
An interesting blend. I will hold my last bottle for at least another 5 years and see if it evolves into something more subtle and nuanced, but I doubt it.
