Lovely wine. You need to decant, or at least run it through a fine mesh, there is a load of sediment. Despite the age, the wine has retained a fine structure. There is a ton of leather initially, but then the fruit comes through. Cherry and redcurrant primarily. Then the long finish held together by fine tannins. You have to enjoy aged wine to get this, but if you do the wine is awesome. It is not going to improve any more, but I think it has a couple more years in it.

Opened at 12pm left in bottle Ruby colour, vibrant aromas, rose, raspberry and leather with bracing dry tannin, really nice and enjoyable already. 2h - fruity aromas seem somewhat muted at the moment, dry tannin still strong. 4hr - still strong tannin and acidity good fruit profile 5hr - not as dry, tannins settling decanted for an hour and drank over the next hour, wasn’t at its best, not as fruity or powerful, seemed a bit closed or maybe overpowered by the short ribs at dinner.
Saved a glass for later, poured from decanter at 11pm. ( 11hrs open) lovely, floral and earthy aromas, strawberry. Still very dry, tannins are persistent, unripe strawberry, solid body, really nice wine
I wonder if I missed the peak earlier in the night, with the fruit fading, but this does have plenty of life. Certainly let this sit a few years
If I had another I might decant and enjoy a bit earlier in the process.

Stunning bottle. Classic barolo, which has everything in it. Amazing nose, long finish.

FINALLY starting to open and show its inherent quality... lovely dusty full black fruit with good complexity. Very pleasing for a good value.
