  This wine just keeps getting better. Wish I didn’t drink several of them 5+ years ago. Lots of depth and earth. Impressed everyone at a dinner party. A wonderful example of how age improves a wine

  Six years to the day since last bottle was consumed. WOW! Time and great storage has been good to this wine. NO decant or Vinturi, opened at same Italian restaurant and consumed over 70+ minutes. Great nose of ripe cherry,old baseball glove, acidity was perfect (wished that I could have had litmus strips w/which to confirm). Bricking in the glass, silky on the palate, with a long, delectable finish. Sadly, my last bottle. I wish that I had bought LOTS more from WL at $15!!

  This has really improved with a few years in the cellar. It is drinking very well at this time. Very balanced. The sour cherries are tame, tannins are about what you would expect. I aerated and decanted for 30 min. After a few hours of air the sour cherries took over. For the price this was well worth the wait.

  I brought this 2005 Podere Brunello to taste with 9 people right beside the 2010 Banfi Brunello. The Podere costs half as much and is an under rated 91 points versus 95 points for the Banfi. The 2010 vintage has been praised so highly as one of the greatest ever for Brunello that one might infer that we would have to suffer the eternal regret of drinking inferior wines for failing to stack up cases of the 2010 Brunellos up to ceiling of our bedrooms. The underdog Podere proved to be the giant killer - the consensus favorite, for being blacker, fruitier, richer, better structured, and more delicious. And the moral of the story is, in the quest for better wines to drink, rely on how the wine tastes and beware how it is hyped.
