  • Once again (just like the 2005 bottle I opened in Sept., 2019) the moment I began to pull out the cork, it disintegrated onto the counter. And again, I was hoping that the bottom of the cork would be solid and moist - it was. After a decant, which proved to show there was only modest sediment, I poured a small amount into my glass. The aroma was pure and clean with lovely fresh pipe tobacco and fresh fruit. Also, like the 2005, I knew immediately that all was well. Delicious. Glycerin smooth and elegant. Simply gorgeous. Classic old Cabernet, with a left bank Bordeaux like taste. Mature cherry, blackberry, moss, vanilla, earth and spice. Integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Medium finish of minerals and dirt.

  • Classic Napa cab. Mixed red/black currants, cherries, blackberries and cedar. Drinking well now with integrated medium acid & tannins.

  • This was a nicely aged Cab Sauv but compared to the 2005 this vintage was not quite on par.

Opened and decanted for an hour. Dark purple center with a crimson edge. Nose of black cherry and plum with oak spices.

On the palate the black fruits are still prominent but the acids are still high. Given 11 years of age the acids will carry this a little while longer but I was hoping for a more softer and integrated Cabernet.

This oak makes a nice finish but when I recall the '05 this was not in the same league.

Will try the '07 in the next few months. I must say, this is a tough thing, tasting these different years... Ok its just plain fun!
