Decanted for 2 hours. Served blind at Kim’s house. Wine B. Deep nose, a little tropical fruit, sweetness and some funk that blew off. I also noticed a vitamin element to the wine. Not readily identifiable as PYCM because it lacked the flinty lemon that I usually find in the wines. Deep, ripe fruit that is richer than Wine A, but lower acid and mildly diffuse with a lemony flavor profile, and it finishes chalky. This comes across as older than Wine A, so I guessed 2014 for the vintage.

Those were the days: From a case of 12 (can you imagine today a case of 12). From the very beginning I have been a huge fan of Pierre Yves Colin. His wines are of a purity and complexity that is of a level that is hard to find. PYC wines are, almost without exception some of the greatest white burgundies (unless you go stratosferic with wines of D'Auvenay and the likes). The Perrieres is at the pinacle of his portfolio of greatest vins blancs, together with the Chevalier Montrachet. But even his En Remilly and Banc wines are a delight. The exception in my book is Anceigneres which I find less interesting on most occasions. This bottle of Perrieres 2009 shows slightly less tension compared to a year ago which may point to a step by step aging of the 2009. But it could also just be this bottle. But truly great wine still!

Open from the start with a bright yellow color; slightly restrained nose with hints of peach, orchard fruit, minty, popcorn and straw. Palate was a little less intense than other vintages, effeminate in many ways, but still has loads of citrus fruit and minerality. Long long finish, and got better and better with more air.

Pale yellow color. Upon opening, nose is very muted with some saline and mineral qualities. The taste is fantastic! It’s the definition of elegant. Smooth and luscious as it crosses the palate. The acidity is present but we’ll balanced. Definitely ready to drink now or hold a few more years.

Unbelievably fine and complex. Clearly the “patte” PYCM
