  • Pop n pour. Dark golden color. Nose of citrus with more lime than lemon, but also a hit of oak. I think this is on the downward side of life. I'd drink up if I had anymore.

  • From memory, this seems more fruit forward, with the acidity less noticeable, than the bottle I had a year or so ago. Seems like it's starting to smooth out, but also presenting as a "heavier" wine. A ton of fruit, but thankfully well-managed oak and not a ton of malo. Initially, a slight astringency on the finish, but this seems to blow off with time in the glass. Not sure what the trajectory is on this one, but I'd opt for drinking in the next 12-18 months on the notion of "it's drinking well now, why take the chance".

  • Needs to be chilled properly or the butter notes dominate. Notes of melon, vanilla, and some butter on the finish. Moderate acidity, but holds together well enough to be enjoyable.

  • I like this style a lot. Distinct apple notes on the nose along with a nicely behaved caramel oak in the background. Medium-bodied with good balancing acidity to keep it lively. Oak again well behaved on the finish. Very nice QPR @ $17.50/bottle.

  • A Personal Visit to the Anaba Tasting Room, Sonoma, CA.: Tasted at the winery tasting room as my second taste of the day, at first I thought this was a little closed. As I tasted through the glass my wine loving receptors perked up. It doesn't attack you, it is rather subtle, but also probably better described as elegant. Lots going on here with whole cluster pressing, some stainless, some barrel fermentation, some mlolactic, some lees stirring, and 11 months in oak. The result is a round, layered, and complex wine, with some ripe fruit forward, and some balancing green apple acidity. Very nice pineapple, papaya, and pear fruits. The finish features some spice, minerals and a touch of vanilla. I suspect this wine has the stuff to get to 90 points, I caught it a little young.
