  • Still lovely, consistent with my previous notes.

  • A New Year's Eve Gathering at our place: Decanted, then followed. It took almost 30 minutes for the initial "funk" to dissipate and another 45-60 minutes for the wine to unwind. The color was a medium violet and the nose progressed from funk to dark red fruit and earth. This medium bodied wine showed lots of dark red fruits and berries, some garrigue and a touch of spice. The acidity was balancing and there was a touch of tannin on the finish. It took the full hour plus in the decanter to reach this enjoyable level - thank you SKURTZ! Should hold (and may improve) for several years.

  • C'est assez bon, sans plus, un peu boring.

  • Overly alcoholic (15.5%) light grenache fruit and a little oak. A spicy burn is provided by the alcohol, which it doesn't disguise; it lingers in the throat almost like a shot of spirits. The wine is fairly thin, and tannins are weak but very finely polished, the overwhelming impression left being the alcohol. Has legs in the glass almost like a port. Even still there is some residual sugar. This is poor QPR IMO; it's not particularly pleasant to drink when warmed up. Disappointing. PS: I ended up pouring the last 5th or so away, it's not really drinkable on its own. In retrospect, I think I should have tried it mixed with some cola. What ought to be sacrilage might have saved it.

  • Decanted for 1-2h. This is a lovely mature CnP, consistent with my previous notes. Fragrant tobacco and cigar box on the nose, mature red fruit, earthy oak and white pepper, a beautiful meditation wine. Tonight paired with cashew encrusted Alaskan salmon and a side of spaghetti in pesto with shaved black truffles. 93/94
