Decanted for an hour or so - opened up beautifully. Big, deep, and a touch hot (15.5%!), but perfectly complimented my Kona sirloin. Black currant, blackberry, and a touch of licorice and baking spice. My date described it as heavy, and it is still a big wine, but without the super dry, tannic finish of a cab. Power with a touch of class! Would recommend as a food wine - not quite smooth enough to consider drinking alone (IMO).

Domestic (err.... sortof) Syrah (... well, mostly...) (The Apt): This is a wine I came back to multiple times throughout the night. It really intrigued me (in a good way). Very young and many years ahead of it. There was a lot going on here - more smokiness than I got in some other wines, great fruit, and the spiciness. Tannins were evident even at the end of the night. We decanted and drank within an hour or two. This could have used a day's decant I think. But good wine and among my favorites.

Unrefined, raw power, and delicious. This is a great example of a Northern Rhone Syrah. Had after SQN Labels Syrah and this held up very well. Impressive.
