This was my last bottle of 11 (apparently, got 3, tried it and liked it, went back for 4 more, and then another 4). I did not leave any notes- only my purchasing trail tells me how much I was digging it. Dark ruby. Aromatics are candied red and a little black fruit, violets with some animal musky underbrush. The mouthfeel has the energy in the front (literally) and there is lots of good acid. It has some juiciness with very good structure. Although it is my last, I am happy I opened it now as it is so good. I have to buy more Beaujoulais. $16.79... really?

Very musty and savory nose with some faint red berry in the background. Wine also tasted very savory and earthy with faded raspberry and cranberry fruit filling in the gaps. Quite complex, lots of little flavors, no doubt old world, smooth and balanced finish too, just doesn’t hit that next level, particularly mid-palette that falls a bit flat. Tasty wine nonetheless, very easy to consume. Mature, drink now and next few years, depending upon your fruit/earth balance preferences as the fruit is fading.

My note from three years ago indicates that "the nose was slightly musty". On PnP this had a dank odor to it, brett-ish, but also a bit barnyard. This mostly passed after a bit of time and it became a nice roast chicken wine, right down the middle on everything, fruit, acid, body, and tannin. Drink now or hold a year or two.

Still somewhat muted, and even after 3hrs in a decanter the acid just seems a bit too much. I'm not sure this has improved significantly over the last few years. Hold for another 3yrs and hope for the best, but I much prefer the potential of the Sunier Fleurie in 2009.
