  • Complex, long, viscous, just fabulous.

  • Decanted for roughly 90 minutes before tasting. Medium straw colour. Intensely fragrant nose with hints of tropical fruits, honey, floral perfume, spices and salty butterscotch. Rich and powerful palate with a fair bit of (perceived) sweetness. Could have done with a bit more acidity to counter the massive flavours. Much more “in your face” than the beautiful 07 I had a while back, and consequently in my view not as good. By all means enjoyable, but it lacks the understated elegance and balance this wine delivers at its best. Even though there’s probably not enough structure to support a truly long life, I’ll still let my last bottle rest for another few years and hope it settles down a touch.
