Not decanted but followed over two hours. I'm a fan of Henschke, but there's absolutely nothing special here. Forced, heavy-handed, reductive red fruits, medicinal cherry syrup, slightly alcoholic, shows some pedigree on the mouthfeel but unfortunately the vintage dooms this one. Drink now.
Tasted after a two-hour decant. Garnet with a bit of orange at the meniscus. Mineral, earth and ripe fruit nose. Blackberry, plum, rose petal and anise flavor. Good acidity, restrained tannins, a little tart on the finish. Smooth and surprisingly restrained. Could get better but also may not. No reason I can see to wait on this one.
