Deep golden colour like an Auslese but with a brown tinge. Nose was pretty muted. Based on these two facts I figured it was going to be dead. However, it actually still had a fair amount of life. Typical minerals of a Sauvignon Blanc, hints of fruit with some maderized flavours and what I felt was a rootbeer like flavour towards the finish. A decent amount of acidity gave it energy. Very interesting to drink though not as fresh and bright as a 1998 we tried a few weeks ago.
