Medium garnet. Pronounced intensity on the nose - dried dark fruit, bacon, leather, liquorice, herbs - thyme, lavender, earth, smoke, hint of honey. Dry palate, medium acidity, med+ fine tannins, med+ body, med alcohol, palate similar to the nose. Long finish. Outstanding. With 14+ years this is fully mature and drinking beautifully. The back label says “en maturité de 10-15 ans, en majesté de 15-25 ans”. I will enjoy following the evolution over the next 10 years although to me this is fully developed now.

Winefield's pre-sale tasting: Always difficult, still a bit closed, quite rough, but honest, concentrated, no faults and a good DNA; be patient with this vintage.

A magnificent Mas de Daumas Gassac vertical from the private cellars of Allard Jakobs (Restaurant Sinck, Amsterdam, NL): Magnum. A full organ wine, rich and creamy and rounded, the fruit almost hides the beautifully developed structure, but the tannins confidently show their head above the parapet on the finish. Great wine, great now, great future.

From a double magnum. Still young, no signs of ageing. Almost bordeaux like, smooth texture wine.
