  • Fun experience to swirl this in a glass. Aromas of nuts, lime, olive oil, mint, wax, pear, and honey. Most of the nose transferred to the palate with a different note coming to the front with each sip. An oxidized note was held in check by the burst of mint. Great with Salmon tacos.

  • These wines continue to amaze me - waxy stonefruit , hazelnuts, grilled almonds, paraffin/petrol? Great texture and weight while remaing fresh. With time, the wine develops more complexity and depth of flavor.

  • A profound offering, one of the most complex, layered, and texturally fascinating dry white wines I have the tasted. The bouquet features resin, petrol products, lima beans, asparagus, candlewax, olive grove, fresh picked corn ears, glycerin, leather, tobacco, and smoke. The wine coats the palate with an agreeable waxiness, especially beeswax and honeycomb. Incredibly complex and sophisticated palate, rich and rounded mouthfeel. Delightful acids, exceptional balance, mind-bending and expressive finish. Lots of life ahead of this. 94-95.

  • Not the strongest showing, just lacking the class usually associated with the GR comparing with the reserva. This is still good, but nothing exceptional to differentiate the Tondonia Reserva (or the Gravonia according to some other guests that tasted both side by side). Classic flavours of lemon curd, dusty oak, wrapped in bracing acidity. Fabulous nose that doesn't follow through on the palate. I found the recently released 1994 GR Tondonia to be lacking the special pizzaz as well. Sign of a change in style?
