  • Tuesday, May 21, 2002 Dark purple in color. Full, spicy nose with smoke, plum and pepper. Much the same on the palate, but with much more emphasis on berries, smoke and spice. Nicely extracted fruit (but not over the top). Good balance. Tannins are not likely sufficient to give this great longevity, but it is a nice wine now and should be able to carry its own for a while longer. Fairly longish finish. A great QPR at $10 (before discount.) Simply a wonderful find. 14%. With spicy tomato vegetable soup.
Friday, June 21, 2002 Purple in color - very young. Nose and palate have loads of pepper, cherry and smoke with somewhat rustic rich tannins, sweet fruit and nice developed chocolate notes on the finish. The girls of the beach loved this. With kielbasa and johnsvilles bratwurst sausage and grilled shrimp. 6/21/02. With Karen Frank, Mark and Stephanie Tinsley and eventually the Smileys. One of these, at least one, every night from 6/21 - 6/27 - with dry rubbed ribs (Jks), dessert after grilled shrimp and scallops wrapped in bacon, with NY strips, basically everything we had.
Thursday, June 27, 2002 just as the others - with vacation
Saturday, July 27, 2002 gift to Tinsleys for sharing their beach house.
Sunday, February 16, 2003 Gfit to Michael Ross
Friday, September 12, 2003 mostly tobo, smoke and leather. little to no fruit. definitely in a dumb stage. should be ready in another 6 months or so.
Wednesday, October 29, 2003 I have no idea what happened to this but it was nasty, bitter and metalic. Obviously didn’t pair well with the BBQ, but even tasted separately the second day, it was very off from what this wine normally delivers. Some pretty fruit did show thru, however.
Wednesday, July 21, 2004 My but how I love this wine! Deep, rich red in color. Sweet red fruit and herbs provence on the nose. A mouthfilling roundness with raspberry, herbs, mineral, smokey meatiness and maybe a hint of mocha. 14% alc. Forgot what we had with it.
    Sunday, August 01, 2004 missing
Thursday, June 16, 2005 This wine is such a delight, what with its nose of walnuts, forest, currant, oak, smoked meats and rosemary. The palate is more focused and delivers flavors of blackberry, walnuts, red currants, rosemary, minerals and smoked meat. Very balanced, with a good midpalate and developed long finish. The firm tannins will carry this wine for a long time. 14% alc. With portabello stacks of roasted onions, red bell pepper, Stilton and a touch of balsamic vinegarette with a foundation of portabello mushrooms.
