Pleasant, light bodied, Nebbiolo that one would think is way past the drinking window. But, this was fruity, with well integrated tannin, moderate acidity and was actually decent with a reverse seared strip steak and mashed potatoes. Certainly not a monumental wine or one to really view as memorable but still pretty vibrant and easy drinking, much to my surprise, though not from my cellar.

"2016" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2015-10/15/2015 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 13.7%} (Michael) A transparent sort of garnet. The nose is developing, pongy, earthy, sweaty. On the palate it tastes of ginger and sweat and spice. It seems open and very astringent; medium/high chalky tannins pervade the medium-length finish. Medium acid, medium length finish. Strange. A bit more fruit wouldn’t have hurt this; it was better with food; and would seem to have plenty of time left to evolve further, but into what, exactly? I wondered whether this was a bit dirtier than it really should have been, given Randall Grahm’s view on things vinous…

Translucent garnet-ruby. Strawberry, earth, and mulled spice nose. Medium bodied, tart cranberries, dirty cherries, grainy tannins, a lot of acid and some heat, and a short to medium finish. Much better with food than on its own.

Hitting its stride. We enjoyed this and it compared well with the other vintage from the same producer.
