Very botrytized, the sweetness in this bottle is still evident, although it is giving way to tertiary umami flavors. This feels a bit flabby. Intense, long and rich.

Very much like the last bottle I opened. Nice to have so many consistent showings from a 40 year old wine. Again very ripe with lots of those exotic Scheurebe papaya, mango, and other tropical flavours accented by apricot, honey, and a mix of other botrytised and mature burnished notes. There's more than enough acidity here to balance the sweetness, and this is fantastic. I need to find more.
TN: Terrific wines (Loire, Germany, Austria, Alsace & Rioja) as Jeff & Dena Morris return to NYC. (Royal Seafood, NYC): Quite a fun wine, if not terribly complex. It lacks the grapefruit character I normally get from Scheurebe and instead shows an intensely honeyed and sweet profile with apricot and peach jam with just a bit of tropical fruit thrown in for good measure. There's not a lot of acidity here, indeed, the wine is a bit syrupy, but it's so good natured and lip smackingly good that one can overlook its faults a little bit. A-.

Mostly-Riesling jeeb with Jeff and Dena Morris visiting NYC (Royal Seafood, NYC): Another awesome bottle. Fresher and more lively than my last encounter with this, showing lots of ripe apricot, honey, and more exotic papaya, pineapple, and some green mango flavours that show the Scheurebe signature beneath the apparent botrytis. Really fragrant and still quite fresh and lively on the palate.

Smoky, spicy, pear, apricot. Delicious on the palate with apricot, spice, tropical, brown. Nice spicy and apricot finish. This is a little bit thicker and more exotic due to the Scheurebe - it's an interesting combo of brown and mature along with juicy and acidic from the varietal. This isn't as spectacular as the bottle at RF 2015, but it's still great. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
