4th Saturday Brown Bagger (Our house): Ruby crimson color. Candied red fruit, spice and pine resin aromas give way to a dominant medicinal aroma. On the palate, the wine is harsh, with rough tannins and an off-putting plastic flavor. Angular and harsh. I believe some strains of brettanomyces can present as plastic qualities in a wine, so my guess is that this is a flawed bottle. No guess, no score.

Up two points from our earlier bottle on 5/4/11. This improved with more time in the bottle. The nose seemed a bit weaker, but the taste had mellowed and the sense of bitterness that I'd found before was less evident at the start. Interestingly with time in the glass (and on the 2nd day) it did get a bit more on the bitter side and the pepper had a stronger bite. To my taste this had an optimal flavor point within about fifteen minutes of bottle opening and less than an hour out of bottle.

Screwcap and still remarkably fresh
Dark acidity, spice, clean and fresh...lovely grenache

Very attractive mature G.
Spice most evident on mid palate. Good balance with fruitiness emphasized with brie

Nice berry flavors with a smooth finish. Stronger on the nose, but easy on the palate.
