  • While this bottle elicited adulation around the table, to my palate it was a decent bottle of village red Burgundy from a difficult vintage, but nothing more. A mature nose of fall leaves, dried red cherry, sous bois and a framing of new oak introduces a supple wine with melted tannins, decent mid-palate depth and dimension (deftly chaptalized, one suspects) and a expansive but fully evolved finish with a touch of whole cluster salinity. Nothing to be gained from waiting any longer if you own this.

  • Popped and poured. Very pretty red raspberry and cherry notes right from the start, intermixed with rose petals, crushed stone and a touch of damp earth. Some lighter brown spice as well. The same fruit and floral/spice components came through on the medium bodied palate. There is some structure remaining to allow for additional ageing, but I don't think it is going to get much better. In a great place now. A nice burst of acidity on the medium finish.
