Extremely well preserved with a tight long cork. 47/31/22-Merlot/Cab S/Cab F. Barely any bricking and not much in the way of oxidation. It does show some age in character. Its interesting to me in that it doesn't really show like a classic Bordeaux blend with lots of secondary characters. This shows more polish. Some oak still. There is also a very focused tannin and acid structure. Its kinda perfect in its own way. It doesn't seem to be picked too ripe and over extracted. Well oaked but not overly so. A nicely tight and well preserved wine with polish. Age has probably helped keep the fruit in check in that regard. I enjoyed this for what it is even though its not exactly what I prefer. They just nailed this kin of wine without pushing it out of its seams.

Decanted at 11 am and served at my daughter’s wedding. No specific notes taken but I remember it as very rich and chocolatey with good fruit, good acidity and fairly youthful from magnum. It had a touch of Brett that was viewed as a feature not a flaw.

Decanted at 5 pm and drunk over the next 6 hours, Dark garnet with little sign of age. Effusive nose throughout, with chocolate, anise, cassis, blackberry/boysenberry and cedar. Tannins fully resolved but still a lively wine with decent acidity. Mouth feel is full but not quite "rich" but rather bright. Flavors are reflective of the nose with a moderately long finish. Nicely balanced and nicely paired both with grilled steaks and some chocolate with almonds. Best at about the 3 hour point after opening.

Decanted at 5 pm and tasted through about 11 pm. Medium to dark garnet color. Nose of chocolate, tar, ripe black plum. Deep rich mouth feel. Palate of blackberry, black plum, anise, chocolate and tea. Fairly long aftertaste. Delicious with grilled venison.

Past its prime. I sadly held on a bit too long.
