  • 5th of 6, pnp, perfect level, bottom of cork worked, slightly heightened colour but reasonably pure and with typical minerality and salinity, big and quite rich for Chablis, layering and persistence nice enough, just a sense of fade particularly on exit, drink up. F (17.5).

  • 4th of 6, opened 20 minutes, perfect level, spongey cork, too broad, little minerality, dull though nothing obviously wrong, may have left this too long though 18 years in excellent vintage for GC Chablis should see it just reaching best (cf my June note on the 2000), drink up. G+ (15.5).

  • 3rd of 6, one previous good note, others fine - pale yellow, classic green tinge; delightful and classic fragrance, honeysuckle, chalk, gunflint, tense; light but long, round, wonderful persistence and energy, quality fruit and minerality, balanced, quite austere, should improve yet. At least fine plus (18/20).

  • Premoxed. Drink em if you own them and hope its not too late. Opened the 02 MDT tonight as my backup and it was also premoxed too!

  • Hard to assess at this point. Initially, worried it might be premox as the color was slightly past medium gold. The nose was very resistent giving almost nothing. No premox aromas and no cardboard either. The palate came off as waxy with just a hint of minerality and apple. Can only assumed closed but, I'll likely open another one soon to see if this one was flawed in some less than obvious way. This producer is known for its long aging cycle so likely just closed up like a clam. I'm not sure about this one.
