Cassoulet Dinner with Friends (Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand): Very good wine that does not speak of Condrieu as the botrytis dominates the varietal character, for my taste. Very sweet and honied with a deep caramel color and palate with some floral aspects. The wine is beautifully made and has great richness but could use a bit more acid to liven the experience. Based on the color, I would think of drinking this up - but I imagine the sugar will keep this alive for quite some time...

– tasted a single glass non-blind over approx. 10 min. – – botrytised Viognier –
NOSE: golden raisins; apricot; intensely expressive Nose. TASTE: moderate fruit concentration; good acid; shortish finish; 13% alc. not noticeable; good acidity; flavors mirror the Nose; seems very well-balanced, even with its 100 g/L r.s.; I imagine this will age gracefully.

NOSE: baked carrots; botrytis; obviously sweet.
BODY: full bodied.
TASTE: pear; lychee; very sweet; honeyed; low-ish acidity; doesn’t really taste like it has aged yet.
