Enjoyed with roasted rare beef tenderloin in brandy cream sauce. A robust, full bodied merlot with lots of dark fruit, hints of chocolate and ample structure for prolonged aging. Paired well with the rich flavors and texture of the beef.
Excellent cork, this has been stored at 55 degrees with everything amazingly much the same as my notes from 2010. Lots of sediment, the nose is somewhat more faded but the midpalate still fat and rich albeit initially a little sweet along with a little heat. Some mild tannins in the finish. I think this is perhaps my last bottle (gotta update my inventory).
Update: Two hours later and the initial sweetness has exited and a nice long, spice-laden fruit filled finish has settled in. 91 pts.
