Yvelin's farewell: My contribution. Took time to get going as some correctly noted that it had a short finish at the beginning, but what was more interesting was that some people guessed this as Burgundy. Most were in the correct ballpark for vintage but I would have guessed younger despite the slightly nutty notes. After some time this developed into such a generous and giving wine, and this was even better on the second day. Not the usual flabby Rhône white for sure - had such a good balance and freshness for a wine of its age.

Rather restrained on the nose for a Condrieu but still quite aromatic. It enters the palate with a surprising lemony streak while it reveals its character as a Condrieu on the mid palate with its oily texture, weight and musky/floral fruit. Oak is impereceptible. A very good wine which shows no sign of decline but does not reach the heights that Condrieu can.

Still very fresh. Pale colored. Nose has the classical Condrieu perfume of candied apricot, orange rind and white blossoms with some hints of vanilla and wonderfully refreshing tart citrus fruit. Classy, proportioned, not exuberrant. On the palate the wine seems like one year old and has quite high acidity for a Condrieu with all the aromatic opulence and a nice lemony finish. High quality wine.

Coteau de Vernon is a Condrieu that ages well, in fact it needs age to develop its full potential. Very beautiful wine drinking perfectly right now.
