20+ CDP Dinner (Bristol): Classic Pegau funk on the nose (but not too much). Rich, blackberry, barnyard, tea and iron on the palate. This bottle very fresh with strong fruit. Always a pleasure to drink older Pegau when it's on...and this bottle was on.
Popped, breathed in bottle 60 minutes, consumed over next two hours. Needed some air to come together. A lot of good things going on here, but I did not feel this bottle reached the heights of previous bottles and towards the end, it was tasting oxidized. Perhaps a little bottle variation or maybe this wine is finally in decline?
Wineberserkers European Tasting (Zazie's, San Francisco): Funky, but still pure fruit, red fruit, smoky, barbecued meats; palate is full bodied, ripe but balanced fruits, licorice, black fruit; medium length juicy finish. Very nice, but there is heat on the nose and palate that often distracts. Some at the table thought it showed very differently from the same wine tasted a few months ago. 90
