Cool citrus fruit aromas accompanied by spice, marzipan and just a touch of sulphur. This has a very clean, pure nose that is just lovely. The palate is lively for an 09, almost austere and tight, atypical for the vintage. Bitter lemon flavors with surprising acidity are also evident.
CV'd this bottle, this note is for day 2. Very alluring Meursault nose of hazelnuts, lemon and some chalky rocks. The palate is lively and shows a lovely balance between the lemony acidity and the deep middle weight fruit flavors. Very crisp and precise for the vintage, with lovely detail and balance on the finish. I think Roulot really shines in ripe years like 05 and 09, the style picks up depth of fruit from the vintage but in a very restrained and elegant way. Bravo.
