Weekly tasting group #221; A mixed set fully blind tasted. (@ WW): Beautiful bouquet with mainly dark and also some red berries, beautifully dosed oak and a pleasant touch of barnyard. On the palate dark berries, chocolate, some earth and autumn impressions, beautiful acidity and round tannin with still a soft bite. Overall a beautiful, complex and full bodied which is a bit more developed than expected. It could well be this bottle has been stored a bit too warm for many years. 92+
Surprisingly enough, this wine is perfect for just popping and pouring as it shows its best within the first hour or so from opening. A great nose of leafy herbs, dark berries, red cherry following through on the palate which had great tannin, a juicy mouth-feel and a great finish. This is such a tasty wine year in and year out and truly fun to drink.
