Aroma: bright cherry and red currant with notes of vanilla and sandalwood. Palate: nicely developed flavors of spicy cherry, pencil shavings and lavender. Tannins are still prominent and could benefit from more bottle age. Low to moderate acid level.
An autumnal nose of dried leaves and red fruit. Palate with a little bret perhaps. Red fruit with a bit of underbrush and already tertiary. It had a bitterness at the back end that was suprising and outlasted the rest of the wine. A bit unbalanced. Medium acid, medium body. The tannin has sunk in and it's not prickly at all. Drink now.
Had this with Spanish style spicy chicken, sundries tomatoes, roasted peppers and rice. In the absence of of Tempranillo we tried this. We let it open up for an hour or two. Worked really well. Think that mix of zin and carignane is a hit. Drink now.
