Basically undrinkable when I first opened it. High acid in the finish, totally dry without much fruit. However, I decanted it, and after several hours it opened up showing wild tart cherries predominant in the fruit, although it is limited relative to terroir (minerals) and lots of tannin in the finish. Best with food. I would say it is now at its peak or somewhat beyond as the fruit is fading.
This wine is still extremely tannic, it dries the teeth out completely, but the color is starting to tan around the edges. The tar and terroir completely overpower the fruit, which is light bing cherry, and not very compelling. There are light herbal notes, and some chocolate overtones. Great perfume, however, nice floral notes all over the place. By the time the tannins fade, what will be left?
