  We obviously had a different bottle of wine than many of the previous comments suggest and was a great pairing with Osso Bucco and risotto.
  Cherries, raspberries, currants and hints of licorice and spice in the nose. Rich deep flavor with black and red fruits, currants, black cherries and herbalness. Well balanced, nice complexity and a long smooth finish.

  Comprehensive Tenuta delle Terre Nere (Chicago, IL): Leathery notes on the nose and plenty of leathery tannins on the palate either; in that sense the structure feels unresolved. Unfortunately the fruit is relatively light and fading, and this shows long in the tooth.

  Great match with lasagna. Blackberries, raspberries, licorice and hints of spice and floral in the nose. Nice black and red fruits in the rich, deep flavor. Well balanced, nice complexity and a long very smooth long finish.

  Definitely an off bottle. A faint note of wet cardboard got stronger and stronger as the wine came across more and more oxidized.

  Slow'O'd for two three hours; decanted for two. The wine is infused with essence of volcano, it its licorice and berry liqueur undertones sprinkled with pepper. Strong stuff—requires food, but nothing specific—and delicious, its flavors bound to the terroir.
