  • 2003 Château Pape Clément - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
This wine is like stepping into a coffee factory, overwhelming nose of fresh burned coffee beans. Then also black fruits, cherries, graphite and cloves. All Asian notes. interesting bottle although maybe bit monolithic at the moment. I would give it more time. (92 pts.)
  • 1982 Château Haut-Marbuzet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Again impressed with this wine, soft, supple and elegant. Bit drying on the end. Seems to have had fair bit of new wood. (91 pts.)
  • 1982 Château Talbot - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Best bottle I had until now, WOW still so young! Earth, leather, spices, ripe red fruits, olives and graphite in the nose. Powerful palate, rustic style. Even stood up well beside the LLC 1982. (95 pts.)
  • 2004 Viñedos Lacalle y Laorden Rioja Viña el Pisón - Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja
Incredibly powerful and concentrated. Dark over-ripe fruits, cake, liquorice (drop), coffee, spices, abundance of wood. But.. not my style, over-concentrated. I find it disappointing, maybe need to wait some time?
  • 1986 Château Guiraud - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Nice balance, good acidity. Still holding well. (89 pts.)
