 5/15/2017 (Restaurang Hantverket)

Middag tillsammans med Champagneproducenterna Mailly Grand Cru och Legras & Haas arrangerat av Franska Vinlistan.

  • 2011 Legras & Haas Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Millésimé - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
    (Tried from Jero bottle)
Youthful nose with incipient maturity showing hazelnuts, minerals and acacia flowers. Filled with brioche notes at first. Fruitful and rounder palate feeling very accesible from start and with a lovely acidity to let it evolve over time. From Jero best 2016-2031. (88 pts.)
  • N.V. Legras & Haas Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chouilly - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Youthful nose showing chalk, minerals and citrus notes. With a creamy and acidic palate and a nice and long finish. Very nice showing as always!
Probably at its best if kept in the cellar for a couple of years extra. Best with 2-5 years of extra cellaring. (88 pts.)
  • N.V. Legras & Haas Champagne Grand Cru Exigence N°8 Vieilles Vignes Brut - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
(Multi vintage, 50% Chouilly CH, 50% Ay PN, bästa åren sedan 95-96-99-02-04-06-07-08-09, Disgorged April 2016, 6 years on lees)
Much more evolved nose compared to the other cuvées of the producer showing hints of burnt caramel, mineral and citrus. Palate is soft and round but still with a fresh acidity and a long finish. This feels more fresh and cripst in comparison to the Exigance No 7 in its youth and it should probably evolve well with some years of extra cellaring. But it's hard to keep since it's drinking so nicely already! Best 2018-2028. (89 pts.)
  • 2008 Mailly Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Lovely youthful nose showing hazelnuts, minerals and citrus flowers. Fresh and smooth palate with a distinct lime peel finish. Already accessible and drinking well, but with potential for a long future ahead. Best 2018-2033. (90 pts.)
  • N.V. Mailly Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Pinot Noir - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Mineral, hazelnuts and a hint of caramell on the youthful nose. This is drinking nicelty with a smooth and soft palate combined with a lovely acidity and a fruitful finish. Such a creamy and available cuvée in a food-friendly style that will evolve nicely with a few years extra cellaring. (88 pts.)
  • N.V. Plan Pégau Vin de Table Français Lot 2011 - 2012 - 2013 - France, Vin de Table Français
Rustic style with lots of white pepper. (86 pts.)
  • 2013 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
(Decanted for about an hour to open up, since still very young)
Youthful nose with lots of red fruit and showing oak. Palate dominated by austere tannins, nice fruit and with a long finish. Still very youthful and need more cellaring to open up. Best 2023-2028. (90 pts.)
  • 1996 Legras & Haas Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Millésimé - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
(From magnum bottle in original disgorgement in the fall of 1999, 100% Chardonnay from Chouilly, dosage 13 gr/l)
Lovely golden yellow colour with a wonderful maturing nose combined with very youthful notes of flowers and citrus as well. Palate is very intense with the positive power of the 1996 vintage, and with a creamy acidic and still youthful taste. Mostly fresh without oxidative notes and a lovely long lime peel bitternes in the finish.
This was a wonderful cuvée by Legras & Haas with lots of life left. Best 2011-2031.
(As a sidenote we opened three magnum bottles and two of them where wonderful, but the third one was severly cork damaged and undrinkable.) (95 pts.)
  • 1996 Mailly Champagne Grand Cru Magnum Collection Brut - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
(From magnum and late disgorged in 2015, dosage 3,5 gr/l, stored sur-pointe for ten years to minimize contact with yeast, 66% PN, 33% CH)
Lovely golden yellow color with a mature nose showing plums and chocolate with a hint of youthfulness of flowers. Very intense palate with notes of oak and a rounder middle. With a long and lovely asperity of lime peel bitterness in the long lasting finish. This is wonderful already and perfect with a piece of grilled meat, but can keep for years to come. Best 2016-2031. (93 pts.)

Mycket trevlig middag och en ynnest att få prova de mogna versionerna av Legras & Haas och Mailly från 1996 på magnumbuteljer!
