Brett and Carol came over for some grilled beef tenderloins, baked potato and roasted asparagus. Great food and wines, though the Uccelliera was dissappointing.

  • 2009 Domaine Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
A nice but simple bourgogne with some pineapple and citrus and a touch of marshmallow. This went well with the aged goat cheese and shrimp.
  • 1997 Bell Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Jackson Clone Baritelle - USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
This has held up pretty well. Mint, cedar, faint herbal, and tobacco notes. The fruit has faded but I still found this very enjoyable. Somewhat elegant and bordeaux like. It went well with the grilled beef tenderloin.
  • 1998 Château des Jacobins - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
A nice mature bordeaux. Leather, some earth and faint lead pencil. The fruit is holding up well. Elegant. This was my favorite wine of the night along with the '97 Bell Cabernet. This paired well with the grilled beef tenderloin.
  • 2007 Uccelliera Rosso di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino
We had this wine a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't wait to try it again. This bottle was a bit dissappointing as the fruit seemed a little cooked and candied. I think the bottle was flawed although we did open it after a 97 cab and a 98 bordeaux which were tough acts to follow.
