What started as a quartet meeting with 1990s Bordeaux wines turned into a 8-wine-lovers soiree with 8 bottles, mainly from Bordeaux
attended: Arnoldo, Yoram, Hugo, Mati, Hanan, Ido Lewinsohn, Eran Pick & me

  • 2009 Lewinsohn Garage de Papa Blanc - Israel, Judean Hills, Jerusalem Mountains
    light yellow golden-straw color;
    fresh tropical fruits aroma;
    pleasant and elegant on the palate - a quality wine. (90 pts.)
  • 1999 La Grange Neuve de Figeac - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
    red-brown color;
    enjoyable cowshed aroma;
    though over the peak still enjoyable; (89 pts.)
  • 1997 Château Duhart-Milon - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
    red-brown color;
    quality developed aroma of leather & spices;
    medium bodied, tannic & enjoyable on the palate;
    a bit over the peak; (89 pts.)
  • 1996 Château Pape Clément - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
    red-brown color;
    well developed secondary aromas;
    rich, medium body. balanced, can endure many more years but will not develop to a greater wines (92 pts.)
  • 2005 Château Haut Condissas Prestige - France, Bordeaux, Médoc
    dark red color;
    developed rich & impressing aroma;
    rich, dense, structured, balanced, developed and very enjoyable taste for this relatively young wine. Already ready to enjoy. (92 pts.)
  • 2006 Le Petit Saint Jacques - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
    dark red color;
    weak aroma of a typical simple Bordeaux;
    simple & flat on the palate, though giving you the feeling that it may be a better wine that it is actually. Some would claim good value for money. (82 pts.)
  • 2008 Lewinsohn Garage de Papa Rouge - Israel, Galilee
    red-purple color;
    fresh young fruity-floral aroma;
    quality wine, enjoyable though still too young IMHO, will age and improve during the next 5-8 years. Kudos to young Lewinsohn! (90 pts.)
  • 2005 Château Tour Seran - France, Bordeaux, Médoc
    dark red-black color;
    pleasant quality aroma of a medium-level wine;
    enjoyable on the palate and a nice surprise for this price-level. (88 pts.)

All were tasted blind; while the 1997 Duhart-Milon & 1996 Pape-Clement were very good as expected, the 2005 Haut-Condissas was a very good surprise. Also Tour-Seran was impressing in a way.
Lewinsohn Garage-de-Papa Rouge seems a very promising wine; Petit Saint-Jacques proved that even a €5 Bordeaux bottle can be drinkable...
