6/8/2013 (Restaurant De Lindenhof **, Giethoorn, Netherlands)

  • N.V. A. Robert Champagne Brut Classic - France, Champagne
Dry, elegant, well-balanced, extremely minerally, fresh almonds, hint of marzipan, apples and flowers, good length. (89 pts.)
  • 2001 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune - France, Alsace
Smoky, minerally nose, lovely depth, hint of petrol, subtle fruit and floral aromas, quite a Germanic style; on the palate layered and fine-boned, all about elegance and finesse, relatively light weight, ripe acidity, not the ultimate cut, on the soft side even for a Clos Ste Hune; very good length. Fully mature, drink up. Far more developed than expected, bottle variation? (92 pts.)
  • 2005 Markus Molitor Brauneberger Klostergarten Spätburgunder trocken ** - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
14% ABV. Wonderfully deep and fragrant, even explosive, Pinot Noir, fresh and autumnal, crushed red fruit, rosehip and red meat, slate and spice, flowers and smoke; on the palate transparent and precise, elegant, silky, medium weight, very harmonious, linear, refreshing, so seamless and beguiling; very good length, just a hint of heat? Reminds me of Meyer-Näkel "S" 2005. (92 pts.)
