Small glass, brief note. Simple and fun. Bright for the vintage. Good now. (85 pts.)
- 2011 Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

- 2003 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Very ripe, very 2003. Also very good concentration. Clearly also mature. Best when tasted shortly after opened, slightly less exciting an hour+ later. Best to enjoy sooner vs later.
- 2003 Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Very ripe and concentrated in an ultra ripe style. Easily could have been mistaken for Syrah. (87 pts.)

Bright red fruit with sweet spice so easy to enjoy. Impressive length for its level. (91 pts.)
- 2003 Domaine Francois Lamarche Grands-Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Black cherry and plum with savory spice. Rich while slightly and oddly rustic for the vintage. Concentration here I truly enjoy, even if not perfectly balanced. I enjoyed this wine more than most others today. (90 pts.)
- 1995 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Red fruit and earth with very good spice on finish. Good+ weight and length. (91 pts.)

Corked (FLAWED)
- 2001 Domaine Daniel Rion et Fils Chambolle-Musigny Beaux Bruns - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Backward to start, so double decanted. With some air, this was rich and powerful with very good savory spice. Upside from here. (91 pts.)
- 2004 Rudi Pichler Riesling Federspiel - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Small glass, brief note. Very simple orchard fruit in a lean style. Good enough bargain wine. (81 pts.)

- 2014 Sine Qua Non Syrah Piranha Waterdance - USA, California, Central Coast
Rich and sweet black fruit.Very long and powerful, but getting close to balanced. A great guilty pleasure. Better 2020 forward, mid-90s potential.
- 2007 Kistler Pinot Noir Cuvée Elizabeth Bodega Headlands - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Small glass, brief note. Still nicely fresh, all black fruit, just slightly roasted. Good overall.
- 1988 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

- 2003 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Small glass, brief note. Ripe black fruit with some cigarbox spice. Still tannic and slightly backward. Enjoyable, but not in the most elegant form. (89 pts.)
- 2003 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Small glass, brief note. Much better than the Pichon Baron just tasted. Ripe and rich, but certainly well balanced and very tasty. Didn't seem particularly "2003." Good+ weight, length and balance. (91 pts.)
- 2003 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Small glass, brief note. Slightly tannic and also slightly bitter. (82 pts.)

Small glass, brief note. Very tasty and accessible black fruit with impeccable balance and good+ weight. (92 pts.)
- 2003 Château Montrose - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Small glass, brief note. Lots of ripe fruit, but to me this seemed too ripe and slightly roasted. Others liked this more than I did today.
- 1992 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
Small glass, brief note. Cranberry and lots of earth. This had been open for a couple of already already, and I was told it was much better earlier in the evening.
- 1994 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley
This bottle was oxidized. (FLAWED)
- 1995 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

- 2003 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Small glass, brief note. Surprisingly fresh for its age and the 2003 vintage. Even seemed younger. Fun, slightly simple despite its richness. (88 pts.)
- 2003 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Small glass, brief note. I liked this when young. But now it comes across as very old. (80 pts.)
- 2009 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Red and black cherry with spice hints. Very good textures on finish, very good balance. Not the most complex vintage for this wine, probably upside from here. Others liked this more than I did. (89 pts.)

Small glass, brief note. Also very ripe with plenty of power. Slightly rugged. Slightly one dimensional.
- 2003 Alban Vineyards Syrah Lorraine - USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley
Small glass, brief note. Very reductive, very concentrated, but modest structure at best. I don't like the balance, but I also just don't really like the wine.
- 2004 Glaetzer Shiraz Amon-Ra Barossa Valley - Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Small glass, brief note. Rich black fruit with spice hints and good power. Slightly riper than I'd prefer, but very good balance. (91 pts.)
