Great blind tasting of 4 Washington State Syrah’s. The Reynvaan was a standout effort however the K Rock Garden is not far behind. Great start to the trip.

 

  • 2017 Kirkland Signature Chardonnay Signature Series Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
    Apple, spice, pear and minerals. Short to medium finish. Very clean wine. (87 pts.)
  • 2012 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah Foothills Reserve - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
    Funk, olives, spice, roasted meats and blue currents. Super complex wine and long finish. First in the voting. (94 pts.)
  • 2014 Lobo Hills Syrah Spilya Vineyard - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
    Solid effort with perfume, gravel, cherry, plum and floral notes. Medium finish. (91 pts.)
  • 2013 Two Vintners Syrah Some Days Are Diamonds - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Horse Heaven Hills
    day 1: Underbrush, minerals, cranberry, raspberries and rise petals. Solid effort. 92 points
    Day 2: More fruit showing with Bing cherries , raspberries and plums. Gravel and floral notes on the medium finish. Holding form. 92 points (92 pts.)
  • 2016 K Vintners Syrah Rockgarden - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
    love the rock garden Syrah. Young. Black olives, spices, dust, blueberries and white pepper. Rhône similarities and medium plus finish. Should improve over time. 94 (94 pts.)
