A nice tasting in a beautiful setting. Good wines across the board, but nothing stellar. Met Allison, Gary's 'wine assistant'...

  • 2005 Domaine Amiot Guy et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Pale lime white color. Rich nose of lime ictrus mineral seashell. Mmmn, incredibly rich round ripe spicy white fruit palate. racing spice. Young but great stuffing. 93-94 pts. (93 pts.)
  • 2004 Kistler Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Pale yelllow color. Ripe yellow fruit nose with tropical and oak hints. Rich unctuous round glycerine oaky yellow fruit on the palate. Nice, but better in a couple more years. 93+ pts. (93 pts.)
  • 2005 Gros Frère et Sœur Vosne-Romanée - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
Bright pink purple color. Big forward ripe nose of sweet black cherry with nice burg nuances - not nearly as spicy as the 1er from the previous night though. Nice medium red/black cherry notes on the palate with a tight spicy finish. Still young, with round tannins. Nice, but definitely on the simpler side. (92 pts.)
  • 2004 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Brigth medium red color. Medium forward nose of sweet kirsch liquer and some black spices. Dense sweet spicy black fruit on the palate with a long round finish. Surprisingly nice. (93 pts.)
  • 2000 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo Monprivato - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Pale red washed out color. Unusual nose of floral rose red fruit with ODD spice and stem notes. Round red slightly canned floral palate, but again very odd. Not for me. 87?? pts. (87 pts.)
  • 2004 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Full red with a purple core. Big nose of dusty cedar black fruit with wonderful black pepper spice - surprisingly open! Nice round balck fruit and spice on the palate , but a bit hollow on the mid palate. Could round out and put on a bit more weight with time. (92 pts.)
  • 1988 Château Cos d'Estournel - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Easy WOTN for me. This is singing for what it is. Full red color with hints of crimson. Beautiful nose of cedar, saddle leather, pencil and dusty black fruit. Lovely round slightly sweet spicy red/black fruit on the palate. Drinking very well at this moment. (94 pts.)
  • 1995 Vieux Château Certan - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
Medium red with crimson notes. Forward nose of black fruit, graphite, and a wide streak of green pepper. Nice round mature red spicy fruit with clear secondary notes. Drinking well, but surprisingly advanced for a 95. (91 pts.)
  • 1993 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley - USA, California, Napa Valley
Full soft red color. Wow - great spicy green sweet round nose. Lovely round coffee black fruit with a slight green note on the finish. This was showing surprisingly well! Apparently from the 'good old days' of Silver Oak... 93-94 pts. (93 pts.)
  • 1989 Château Climens - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
Full yellow copper color. Forward sweet ripe botrytis nose. Lovely caramel sweet yellow fruit. Nice, but not great. (93 pts.)
