A White Wine Dinner in Celebration of Crab | (159 page views) | | - 2007 Lanson Champagne Clos Lanson - France, Champagne
Medium yellow. Full bodied and rich with an excellent citrus kicker.
- 2012 Bérêche et Fils Champagne Premier Cru Ludes Les Beaux Regards - France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Creamy, rich Blanc de Blancs with an interesting herbal component.
- 2001 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile - France, Alsace
Full yellow. Expressive peach. Dry, dense, glycerine, and full bodied. This has really rounded out impressively. A bigger, fleshier wine than its stablemate (Clos Ste. Hune), and this has hurtled toward maturity more quickly than the other wine. Both were wonderful tonight.
- 2001 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune - France, Alsace
Medium yellow. Younger, lighter, much more lemony and mineral than the Frédéric Emile. Finer and more elegant. Although angular at its core, it avoids hard edges. Outstanding and looking more and more like a classic Clos Ste. Hune over time.
- 2014 Karthäuserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Spätlese Nr. 42 Auction - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Yellow. Apple jelly and slate in a sleek, light, crisp package. Excellent.
- 2020 Kumeu River Chardonnay Coddington - New Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Kumeu
Medium yellow. Particularly after Rieslings, oaky and buttery.
- 1990 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru
Deep yellow. Moderately sweet, medium weight. Great purity of its pear and quince fruit plus spice. Harmonious glycerine feel. Outstanding dessert wine in spectacular form at this age.
