Saline, citrus notes wothjist enough body and balance to pair well with a variety of food. Certainly with seafood and seafood pasta dishes. But solid enough to stand on its own without food. At this price, itcoukdhe a daily drinker, especially in the summer months. Great QPR! (139 views)

It smells like apple cider with a spritz of lemon. Light, dry with a hint of funk. It really reminds me of a cider from Normandy. Roasted almond and a slight minerality on the finish. A bit underwhelming for the price tag. (98 views)

Strong hit of almonds on the nose, which I found a little unpleasant. Suffers from coming after a Terre Nere from an older vintage. Cool on the palate, but austere otherwise and I remain unconvinced. (59 views)

Earth and reduction on the nose. Red fruit, light to medium bodied. Reduction fades and fruit comes to the forefront as it opens up. Really tasty. Great value. Good acid. Great everyday drinker that’s a step above the rest. (223 views)

Simply amazing. The age here has done wonders for the development of this wine. The saline, mineral-driven characteristics of the Carricante are now moving towards a slightly oxidative, smokey, and petrol-like flavor. The length here is noteworthy, and there is plenty of depth and complexity to fascinate over with every sip.
This is continuing to develop, and I'm glad to have one more in my cellar that I intend to age further. I'd love to check this out in another 2-3 years. (245 views)

Last of ~ 6 bottles acquired in '17 and '18. Light red color. On nose, iron, tart cherry, strawberry and touch of tobacco. Palate was similar flavor profile ex. iron. Medium body, medium+ acidity, low tannins and nice long finish. Better than last bottle I had ~ 6 months ago (didn't take notes). 91+/- this go around.

Seems to be a fair amount of bottle variation with this wine. (147 views)

This started quite lean and a bit faint but with some air and warming it became more classic in profile with more of that saline minerality showing. I would have expected something more fuller and oxidative considering age but it seems to be slimming down as it ages. Best drink soonish (61 views)

Etna's volcanic power oozes from the glass along with red fruit and tar. Earthy, smoky, and more spicy than many other Nerello Mascaleses. Deliciously well-balanced acidity and velvety tannins. I really have a soft spot for these wines. (63 views)
