Tasted by wineismylife on 6/19/2020 & rated 89 points: WIML89

Tasted non blind.

Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of matchstick, perfume and mixed yellow fruits. Flavors of vanilla, creme fraiche and yellow pears. Medium acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink now. (302 views)
Tasted by Chrisinroch on 5/30/2016: Still drinking nicely. Has taken on weight. (665 views)
Tasted by Fugu Me on 8/20/2015: Peach and almonds on the palate and nose. Astringent straight out of the fridge, this started to show it's charms after warming up to around 50F or so. Nice now, but I'm not sure there's any upside to holding longer. (915 views)
Tasted by Redrunners on 3/22/2015 & rated 89 points: Tried slightly chilled from wine cellar and then again a day later slightly cooler. Worked well at both temperatures.

Flavors of peach, apple and almond, with some floral scents. Seems to be well integrated and worked well both on its own and with a hearty beer chicken dinner.

This still has a few more years of drinking window.

Glad I picked up a case at the Berzerkers sale this year. Another good effort. (893 views)
Tasted by ChrisinCowiche on 8/18/2014 & rated 91 points: This wine is in a very good spot. Nice caramel, almondy notes, with some fruit, peach maybe, and white flowers. Medium weight with smooth finish. Finding I really love Rhone whites with at least a few years age. Sadly this is my last bottle of this one. (2011 views)
Tasted by Mtpisgah on 4/11/2014: Popped and poured out of the fride. A little too cold and the flavors did not come out. Let it site for 15-20 minutes and it came around. I love Viognier and this is a great one. Enjoyed it with Italian turkey sausage and wilted spinach. Possibly not the best pairing but not bad. (1373 views)
Tasted by Mtpisgah on 2/23/2014: Very nice wine. A little minerality with a buttery smoothness at the same time. (1009 views)
Tasted by Old Doug on 1/2/2014 & rated 91 points: Quite stout stuff, in a good way, for being 95% Vigonier and 5% Chardonnay. The same spicy citrus and honey/honeysuckle as in the past, but more complex now - some faint sulfur and petrol along with the resinous note that dsGris identified back in August. The body has "plumped up" and to me the mouthfeel is silky and "big" like an aged Riesling. Smooth, cool, with the same nice carrying acidity as always, finishes tart then trailing off into the warmth of white pepper. So then there's your warm mouth, ready for the next cool sip. (1162 views)
Tasted by Old Doug on 11/24/2013 & rated 90 points: More silky and buttery than I remember past bottles being. Honeysuckle, yellow and white fruits, vanilla, spicy on the nose. Citrus and pepper all the way through, to the finish. The acidity continues to be pleasing, just right. (905 views)
Tasted by dsgris on 8/18/2013 & rated 88 points: Light straw lemon color, light citrus with resinous note. Medium dry, fruity in a lemon zest, marmalade way. Good body and mouthfeel, lemon drop balance of acid and sugar. Long smooth finish with a light hint of bitter half way. (1048 views)
Tasted by bretrooks on 8/5/2013 & rated 87 points: Consumed over two evenings. On evening one with a chicken/squash dinner, this struck me as malo-buttery (more than expected but not unpleasantly so) with white fruit & floral notes and a nice hint of underlying pithy acidity. On evening two, the buttery and fruity notes which had carried the mid-palate on evening one had diminished, with the main impression becoming more of the "waxiness" that white rhones can pick up with age.

Overall, this is an interesting white which I suspect will be best over the next year or so, and I'm glad to have a couple more. The score reflects our evening one experience. (1026 views)
Tasted by GalvezGuy on 7/19/2013 & rated 88 points: Nose of honeysuckle, peach, pear, white pepper. On the palate rich and full with peach, apple, mineral. Nice long finish. A year did this wine well. Drink over the next 2-3 years. (1100 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 1/10/2013 & rated 89 points: Once again, this bottle reminded me a lot of Conondrum, which is one of my go-to white blends. Paired amazingly well with a turkey congee. Very nice. (1155 views)
Tasted by Leomania on 11/17/2012 & rated 88 points: Really enjoyed this bottle. 'Twas a month ago, no notes. (1391 views)
Tasted by dsgris on 9/10/2012 & rated 89 points: Light yellow/green tint, citrus nose. Dry mineral with some tart lemon zest, well balanced. (1584 views)
Tasted by floydtp on 6/20/2012 & rated 90 points: Tasted non blind at home. PnP at 55 degrees and allowed to sit at room temp. Aroma and tastes of honey, floral, stone fruits and a hint of spice. Medium-long length finish with some honey carrying all the way through and a hint of barrel toast at the very end. Very good QPR. Since I had some white wine open, I decided to make risotto. I wouldn't have normally thought of this style of wine for risotto but it worked very well with some parrano cheese (again not what I normally think of for risotto but it is what I had on hand and it worked quite well). (1651 views)
Tasted by GalvezGuy on 4/19/2012 & rated 88 points: Nose of honeysuckcle, pear, white pepper, hints of peach and apple. On the palate, citrus, apple, mineral. Nice long finish. Needs to be served at close to room temp to really shine. (1674 views)
Tasted by Old Doug on 4/5/2012 & rated 89 points: Very easy wine to reach for. The same pleasing, nourishing minerality and then the citrus and other spicy fruit comes on. Same good acidity. (1849 views)
Tasted by grayfont on 4/2/2012 & rated 88 points: Soft and dry. Light yellow with a little metallic tinge. Loaded with minerality/slate. As it warms in the glass, the citrus fruit notes are unlocked - do not over chill. Very well enjoyed. (1742 views)
Tasted by GalvezGuy on 2/24/2012: Popped and poured. Really tight nose right now, dominated by citrus, pear, mineral, and white pepper. On the palate, nice oily texture with citrus, mineral, and white pepper flavors dominating. Very sharp and linear finish with a little bit of heat. Not going to score this right now, I think it needs some time to knit together as I am missing the peach/apricot and honeysuckle aromas that I usually associate with Viognier. Come back to this in the summer, I am willing to bet the wait will be worth it. (3075 views)
Tasted by Old Doug on 2/1/2012 & rated 89 points: Beautiful pale gold color. This is the 3rd or 4th bottle I've had, and along with the tart citrus on the nose and palate, a pleasing saline minerality in the mouth. I find it compelling to drink now, but it will probably be better in the future as the tartness mellows. (3232 views)
Tasted by khmark7 on 11/24/2011 & rated 87 points: Same as previous note. Served with ham and the typical Thanksgiving fixins. (3329 views)
Tasted by khmark7 on 10/25/2011 & rated 87 points: Asian pear on the nose with a palate of lemon cream, lime and more asian pears. A little tart and bitter on the finish, but possesses plenty of acidty which I prefer. Score range (86-87) (3368 views)
Tasted by Fugu Me on 5/31/2011: The Cote du Soleil is a great summer wine... light and crisp, very refreshing, but with a pleasant bit of unexpected backbone. (3417 views)

2009 Dacalier Cote Du Soleil

The 2009 Cote Du Soleil is labeled as a White blend but consists specifically of 95% Clarksburg Viognier and 5% Napa Valley Chardonnay.

White Rhone Blend

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
